Installation & Scholarship Presentation – May 2011

May 20, 2011
Members enjoyed the annual Installation Pot luck, which always features presentation of scholarships to deserving young women about to realize their college aspirations. Our scholarship recipients this year were two extremely bright, outgoing young girls who we enjoyed interviewing. From Lompoc High School our recipient was Gold Vang. Gold, who completed a program which included math and science courses, graduated with a 4.0 + grade point average, and was #1 in her class. Miss Vang was accepted at Stanford University and will major in psychology, with plans to become a psychologist. While she expressed her gratitude for the schholarship, she was unable to attend the presentation. Our Cabrillo High School recipient is Kelly Jean O’Connell, who also graduated with a 4.0 grade point average, was accepted at UC Santa Barbara where she plans to major in Biology with intentions of working in the medical field. She is very happy to be attending college close to home, being especially close to her Mother who is a single mom and has a full time job.
