Tuesday, October 10, 2017 Program
Why do gender inequalities persist in Economic Development, work and families? How should we address sexism in the workplace?
Join us Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the Lompoc Library, Grossman Gallery, 501 E. North Ave, Lompoc to find out the answers to these questions. Sarah Thébaud, Ph.D, Associate Professor, UCSB Sociology Department will speak at 7 pm about her research to identify and understand the processes that reproduce particularly persistent forms of inequality. Dr. Thébaud’s research has been published in several publications to show how organizational policies and practices, gender norms, and stereotypical beliefs about men’s and women’s abilities matter for understanding phenomena such as the household division of labor, gendered patterns of hiring and workplace authority, and men’s over representation in academic science and engineering.
