Lompoc-Vandenberg’s 2^nd Annual Planning Retreat was attended by twenty AAUW members on July 13, 2013.   Branch President Dianne Owens, using the Institute of Cultural Affairs workshop method, facilitated the setting of five goals and strategies for the success of our 2013-2014 AAUW year.

The goals set are:

• To actively recruit and involve all members
• To plan interesting and pertinent community program meetings to raise awareness of AAUW
• To support public education in our community
• To support STEM programs and activities for young girls
• To make AAUW’s Public Policy more visible to members and community

About forty members and guests attended our annual Membership Tea and enjoyed a fun afternoon of friendship and renewing our AAUW goals. We had an overview of AAUW and presented information about new interest groups and programs for 2012-2013. Several new members joined AAUW at the tea and we want to welcome them to our organization. We have a great year planned! Thanks especially to Janet Shiers for hosting the tea and sharing her lovely home with us.

All members were invited to this first meeting of the new year in order to bring ideas for programs that will help our community and activities of interest. The meeting was not productive and resulted in many new creative ideas for future branch activities.
